CM Group, a leader in innovative blended learning solutions, today announced that Caerphilly County Borough Council has selected CM Group as their partner to design and deliver a state of the art, mobile learning programme on ‘personal information sharing’ to users from all partner organisations across the Caerphilly Local Service Board (CLSB).
Caerphilly County Borough Council have joined with their partners on the CLSB (Gwent Police, the Aneurin Bevan Health Board and the Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations), to provide employees and members access to the training either through online access or, when they are on the move, via mobile devices.

This mobile learning programme is one aspect of the Personal Information Sharing Project, which is part funded by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.

Mobile and traditional eLearning will be combined to provide a fully mobile enabled training solution on the subject of personal information sharing, with the aim of promoting its importance. Appropriate and legal personal information sharing is vital for the integration and improvement of services, well informed decision making and effective care and safer communities. The training will consist of traditional eLearning, combined with additional mobile optimised learning elements. It will be hosted on CM Group’s Luminosity Reach mobile friendly Learning Management System (LMS) and distributed to users either through online access, or to Apps for users to download onto their own personal or business smartphones or tablets, and then access the content offline. The Apps will be designed to fully integrate with CLSB branding, creating an effective communication tool for both learning content and news.

CM Group’s instructional design team will work with local subject matter experts and will create the mobile learning content using its responsive authoring tool, Luminosity Create. This mobile-optimised content detects the size and orientation of a learner’s device and automatically adapts its layout to fit the device’s screen size. This is essential for delivering quality learning content to tablets and smartphones, and in supporting a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) approach.

Steve Dobson, Information Sharing Officer at Caerphilly County Borough Council said, “CM Group was selected after a thorough tender process during which they clearly demonstrated their educational and technical capabilities, along with showing a proven record for delivering mobile learning solutions. We are looking to innovate our learning programme with mobile learning, and we feel CM Group is the perfect partner to help us do that.”

Chief Learning Strategist and CEO at CM Group, Tim Buff said, “Caerphilly Local Service Board has chosen a highly innovative approach to delivering learning materials. It underlines their desire to meet the learning needs of their users and means that people will have access to the learning materials on a wide variety of devices wherever they may be.”
