Version One's Carbon Neutral
Initiative is Double Award Winner

‘Paperless office’ software author, Version One (www.versionone.co.uk),
is celebrating after walking away with two separate awards for its
Carbon Neutral Initiative. Version One achieved a gold award in the
Green Apple Awards 2007 during a prestigious ceremony at The House of
Commons and also won the environmental product of the year category in
the DM (Document Manager) Awards 2007.
Run by The Green Organisation, The Green Apple Awards
2007 recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around
the world. The DM Awards 2007 bestow recognition on UK companies that
are making a real contribution to the ever-growing document and content
management industry.
“We’re over the moon that our Carbon Neutral Initiative
has gained so much recognition”, says Lynne Munns, Version One’s General
Manager. “We’ve worked really hard to cut carbon emissions and so it’s
fantastic that all our hard work has been appreciated. Looking ahead,
we’re going to investigate ways to further reduce our CO2 emissions so
that Version One becomes a shining example of environmental best
practice.”
Since its launch in October 2006, Version One’s Carbon
Neutral Initiative, which was the first of its kind by a UK software
author, has significantly reduced the company’s negative impact on the
environment. A recycling drive, the introduction of video conferencing
and a common-sense approach to saving office energy have all formed part
of the Initiative. A ‘Green Ideas Forum’ has also ensured that the
Carbon Neutral Initiative is an ongoing project which involves all
members of staff and all areas of the company.
Munns adds, “As well as reducing our emissions, we’ve
planted over 1000 native broad-leaved trees on behalf of new customers
that purchase Version One software and re-sellers that facilitate a
sale. These trees not only offset our carbon emissions, they also make a
significant, long-term environmental contribution.”
