NLP Is Given A New Voice
· Daryll Scott launches challenging new business
title - ‘Can We Start Again?: The Patterns of NLP
Applied to Business Interactions’ – a definitive work in
the world of personal training endorsed by the
co-creator of NLP, Dr John Grinder
Daryll Scott, joint Managing Director of personal
development consultancy, Noggin, recently launched his
new business manual, Can We Start Again? – which is
available now online.
To celebrate the release, Daryll held a prestigious
launch event at the impressive conferencing centre at
Davidson House, Reading, where Noggin is based. Over 50
of Noggin’s clients attended to share in Daryll’s
success, boasting an impressive and diverse range of
guests including household names such as: M&S, Baker
Tilley, Honda, Microsoft and Symantec – to name but a
few.
At the event, Daryll presented a lively,
thought-provoking talk examining culture, behaviour and
change, and outlining the concepts in his book - which
are based on practical experiences with client companies
- providing attendees the opportunity to see how the
theories in his book have been applied in the 'real
world'. This was followed by a probing question and
answer session after which guests were invited to relax
and reflect on what they had heard over a spot of wine
tasting.
Daryll has been delighted with the reaction to his
work: “It still seems strange that I’ve actually written
a book, it happened almost by accident. I began writing
articles as a response to a real requirement, and after
some extremely positive feedback from practitioners and
trainers of NLP, my incoherent ramblings evolved into a
finished manuscript that is strongly endorsed by Dr.
John Grinder. I happen to know that John hasn’t endorsed
a book since the late 80s, so it has given me much more
confidence in my work and credibility in the wider
context that he has given the book his seal of approval.
With John’s endorsement this could become one of the
leading works on NLP worldwide.”
Dr Grinder is the co-creator of Neuro-Linguistic
Programming (NLP) and the co-developer of New Code NLP
Code. His work is documented in well over 1,000 other
educational books on wide range of topics, as well as
being the subject matter of well over 1,000 NLP public
seminars hosted by specialist NLP Trainers, training
over 20,000 people each year around the globe. Dr John
Grinder has given a rare endorsement to Daryll’s work
saying: “I judge Daryll's efforts to be very effective
and I welcome his contribution to the growing movement
to position New Code NLP in the business community and
in the larger context.”
Daryll’s intriguing corporate guide has been written
with two types of readers in mind:
· For newcomers to NLP it’s an accessible, practical,
introductory text in the context of business, so that
readers can put the patterns to use immediately.
For the NLP community, it’s a set of metaphors and
natural examples that may help in communicating and
utilising NLP in the context of business.
It provides a practical guide to the use of NLP in
specific business contexts such as presentations, public
speaking, and negotiation. It explains the "science" of
NLP in layman's terms, supported with numerous examples
and anecdotes, and provides an easy-to-use framework for
development and implementation of the skills necessary
to put NLP into practice. It is also impressively
endorsed by one of the founding architects of NLP, Dr.
John Grinder.
The book is divided into eight key focus areas:
‘Making a Connection’, ‘Body Language’, ‘Investigative
Listening’, ‘Influential Speaking’, ‘Presentations’,
‘Negotiations’ and ‘Self Application’. It is a highly
accessible work which teaches readers how they can adapt
their behaviour, both verbal and non-verbal, to create
an agreeable impact and gain influence over others so
that their message gets heard.
Daryll continues: “My personal mission is to
contribute to the further development of New Code NLP.
There is a dogshit attached to the shoe of NLP and it
will need to be cleaned up if NLP is to take its
rightful place as a legitimate methodology for
scientific endeavour. I hope that this book will go some
way to readdressing the myths that surround the
subject.”
Daryll’s style of coaching and consulting has been
described as 'an iron fist in a velvet glove'. He has
more than a decade of experience as a Managing Director,
an NVQ5 in Strategic Management, a Trainer Certification
in NLP, and ‘a handful of other qualifications’ as he
modestly puts it, and his new work is set to become a
definitive text in the world of personal development.
Daryll is the joint Managing Director of Noggin,
which is based in Davidson House. He set up the company
in 2005 with his colleague Ben Houghton. Its key role is
to work with organisations and individuals to combine
commercial knowledge and experience with applied
psychological techniques to effect lasting personal
development for individuals, teams and organisations.
Published through Management Books 2000, Daryll
Scott’s ‘Can We Start Again?: The Patterns of NLP
Applied to Business Interactions’ is available from the
