Hotel Porter to General Manager
New Appointment for White Hart Hotel & Conference Centre
Robert Warren has been appointed as the new general manager of the
White Hart Hotel and Conference Centre in Harrogate.
In what is a virtually extinct career path, Robert, 32 has worked his
way from the bottom of the ladder to the very top. He began his career
as a 16 year old apprentice porter, and over the years has turned his
hand to just about every job available in the hotel industry.
He said: “I am very excited about my new role. I love the fact that
no two days are the same and as general manager you regularly have to
think on your feet to meet the high expectations of guests.
“It’s not about hiding away in an office but about meeting and
interacting with guests to ensure their every need is met. Having
experienced just about every job there is to be had in a hotel, I can
assure customers the White Hart Hotel aims for the highest possible
standards.”
Prior to joining the 53-room hotel, Robert spent six years with the
Holiday Inn chain. He continued: “As a privately run hotel, the White
Hart gives me the opportunity to really make a difference for the
customers. We can tailor everything to meet guests’ specific needs
without being hand-tied by corporate processes.
“My focus is to raise the profile of the hotel and get it back to
where it belongs as a first choice destination for conferences, weddings
and a destination break.”
The hotel, located on Coldbath Road in the heart of the Montpellier
Quarter, is in the process of having its 15 conference suites
redecorated and a partial bedroom refurbishment. In addition, new menus
made up of modern British dishes have been introduced by the new senior
chef.
Commenting on the new appointment, Jon Greenwood, director of
commercial services, said: “Robert’s wealth of experience made him the
ideal candidate. He’s a strong leader, who has earned the respect of the
30 staff here at the White Hart. Great with customers and an excellent
eye for detail, we’re looking forward to working together to move the
White Hart Hotel back into the Premier league of Harrogate hotels.”
